Eijken, Dutch and European Champion as well as World Champion Dressage

The 'Von Driesen' Riding and Driving Association in Asperden-Kessel
recently welcomed a respected visitor. For two weeks in January the
international dressage rider and trainer Birgitt van der Eijken (NED) had
been found willing to do a dressage course in the riding hall of the
association. The participation requests of the otherwise more Jumping minded
members of the association were so overwhelming that the one planned weekend
promptly turned into two.
Competition is no strange word to her. Birgitt
van der Eijken's own dressage career already sprouted when she was a pony rider.
She became Dutch champion seven times, was both European individual as well as
European team champion. At the World Championship for young horses she topped
her riding career: in 1997 she obtained bronze with Kennedy, there again in
1999 the 5 year old Royal Investment became World champion with her on his
back! More successes followed up until Grand Prix.
